Bisacodyl Suppositories
Bisacodyl Suppositories are indicated for the relief of occasional constipation. The active ingredient bisacodyl works as a stimulant laxative. It stimulates the colon to produce a bowel movement in 15 to 60 minutes.
Bisacodyl suppositories are also used for bowel evacuation prior to investigational procedures or surgery.
Petrus Bisacodyl 10mg Suppositories B.P. are suitable for adults and children over 10 years of age. They are available in packs of 10's and 12's.
Petrus Bisacodyl Suppositories are equivalent to Dulcolax suppositories (Reg TM Boehringer Ingelheim Pty Ltd).
Bisacodyl suppositories are easy to insert. Remove the suppository from the plastic wrapping. Lie on your side and draw your knees towards your chest. Insert one suppository high into the rectum (back passage) with the pointed end first and retain for 15 to 30 minutes.
You may lubricate the tip of the suppository with water soluble lubricating gel (eg. KY gel) to make insertion easier.
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Consult your doctor before use in pregnancy.
Keep suppositories in a cool dark place below 25°C.
